Lamb 2 Room
Lamb II is a mix of kids new to BDLC and old timers. We welcome Ava, Ella, Katherine and Brian. They are
joined by Cyrus, Helia and Sonia who transitioned from Lamb I. Mona and Ayesha, the main teachers, have rearranged
the room and are exposing the kids to new things everyday.
Artwork is a big hit in the classroom. The kids tried finger painting and loved it. At first the kids were
wondering “what is this goop on my hands and why can’t I eat it?” but they soon figured out that the “goop”
went on paper and were very excited. The kids have also been drawing with chalk at the easel (and sometimes
on the carpet) and they will start using crayons.
The sensory table is a favorite activity (especially for Cyrus) and everyday it is filled with new things. The kids
stand around the table and play with toys of different textures and shapes–practicing balance, coordination, and
social skills all at once. Talk about multi-tasking. Another hit is standing at the train table. Every day
something new is in the table so kids can stack blocks, knock them down, roll balls, play with cars and trucks.
The Lambs are becoming independent and self-sufficient. Some of the Lambs are getting close to standing by
themselves and walking. Some love feeding themselves and not having to eat jarred food. That being said,
some like the regular food not so much for eating but for rubbing it all over their face, hair and arms. And the
kids are getting used to drinking out of sippy cups. The kids play outside everyday but it isn’t a favorite
activity—yet.
Helia is a big fan of the climber, probably something big brother Henry showed her; Sonia, Cyrus and Ava are
big fans of rolling balls to each other and then clapping their hands in delight; Brian especially likes drawing at
the easel; and Ella and Katherine laugh and giggle and are very friendly kids. Check out the pictures of the
Lambs in action. There is a collage by the front door.
